{"id":1134,"date":"2011-05-09T08:24:18","date_gmt":"2011-05-09T13:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/?p=1134"},"modified":"2011-05-09T08:24:18","modified_gmt":"2011-05-09T13:24:18","slug":"flying-fish-in-downtown-little-rock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/american-cuisine\/flying-fish-in-downtown-little-rock\/","title":{"rendered":"Flying Fish in Downtown Little Rock"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com<\/h4>\n<div id=\"attachment_1136\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/flying_fish.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1136\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1136\" title=\"flying_fish\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/flying_fish-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/flying_fish-300x179.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/flying_fish.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1136\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grilled Salmon<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are not many places I can eat out at during the week due to my dietary preferences.\u00a0 Typically I eat a turkey sandwich, grilled fish, sushi, or something else very low in calories and fat.\u00a0 Luckily for me, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flyingfishinthe.net\/LittleRock_Menu.php\">Flying Fish of Little Rock<\/a> is a block away from where I work downtown, and has one of my favorite dishes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flyingfishinthe.net\/LittleRock_Menu.php\">Flying Fish of Little Rock<\/a> looks like it occupies what used to be a garage, complete with glassed-in roll up doors (which they open during the summer,) and\u00a0a VERY casual atmosphere.\u00a0 Billy Bass singing fish adorn the walls, along with pictures of people\u2019s fish catches.\u00a0 The entire place looks very \u201ccheap\u201d but is\u00a0fun and fitting given the style.<\/p>\n<p>When you walk in, past the dining room, you are greeted by a huge menu board.\u00a0 They offer many fried items, including staples such as fried catfish, and also many grilled items such as grilled salmon.\u00a0 You can order appetizers of fried jalapenos, or desserts of bread pudding.<\/p>\n<p>Place your order with the guy at the register, and tell him if you want it Snappy (hot,) or Snappy Snappy (very hot.)\u00a0 He will then call out your order to the cooks, take your money, and hand you a buzzer to alert you when your food is ready.\u00a0 Be quick in ordering as the line will likely be stacked up behind you and people move through it quickly.\u00a0 Please, do not wait until you get to the front to decide what you want.\u00a0 Most of the people in line, will be workers from downtown, and they don\u2019t have much time!<\/p>\n<p>For my visits I like to order the <strong>Grilled Shrimp Kabob ($9.59)<\/strong>, Snappy Snappy, or the <strong>Grilled Salmon ($10.99),<\/strong> also Snappy Snappy.\u00a0 Every platter comes with rice, beans, and grilled vegetables, but I like to order double vegetables in place of rice and beans to save on calories and fat.\u00a0 Oh yes, I like my food Snappy Snappy but it doesn\u2019t taste very spicy to me.\u00a0 Your mileage may vary.<\/p>\n<p>Find\u00a0a table after you pour your own drink, and carry your buzzer with you.\u00a0 The tables come complete with a paper towel roll for napkins, and a container with multiple hot sauces and spices to modify your food if you so desire.\u00a0 Personally, I like to put a little habanero sauce on my vegetables.\u00a0 Depending on the time of day, you may have to wait about 10-15 minutes for your food as it is cooked to order.\u00a0 You can even watch them cook it\u00a0as the grill can be viewed from most tables.\u00a0 Pick up your food when the buzzer goes off and leave it behind.\u00a0 You are good to go at this point!<\/p>\n<p>My grilled salmon is always perfectly grilled, with a nice crust of spices, and fork tender.\u00a0 The lemons they give you with the food add the right hint of citrus to the fish and tastes wonderful.\u00a0 I wish Flying Fish was close to my home as I would go there for dinner as well.\u00a0 The food is healthy, low in fat, and tastes great.\u00a0 What more can you ask for?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/200\/1034638\/restaurant\/Flying-Fish-of-Little-Rock-Little-Rock\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none;
