{"id":1205,"date":"2011-06-10T05:00:30","date_gmt":"2011-06-10T10:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/?p=1205"},"modified":"2011-06-07T11:32:44","modified_gmt":"2011-06-07T16:32:44","slug":"sultans-kitchen-turkish-takeout-in-boston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/general\/sultans-kitchen-turkish-takeout-in-boston\/","title":{"rendered":"Sultan&#8217;s Kitchen, Turkish Takeout in Boston"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sultans-kitchen.com\/index.htm\">Sultan\u2019s Kitchen in Boston<\/a> is a small restaurant, open since 1981,\u00a0that offers grilled Turkish foods such as kabobs and other non-grilled items, such as salads and dips.\u00a0 Did I mention it is small?\u00a0 Like most places in Boston it is very small, but the food is good and the prices are low.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1208\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/SultansKitchen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1208\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1208\" title=\"SultansKitchen\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/SultansKitchen-300x186.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/SultansKitchen-300x186.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/SultansKitchen.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1208\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chicken Special<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Walking in, there is a large counter on your right, with food behind glass showing off what they have to offer for the day.\u00a0 There is an active grill behind the counter, with various forms of meat cooking, and a few guys in chef\u2019s outfits putting everything together.\u00a0 A large, complicated sign, sits up high at the end of the counter and shows what you can order.<\/p>\n<p>Place your order under the sign, pay, and wait for them to call your number.\u00a0 Once they call your number,\u00a0sit down if you can find a spot, and enjoy your food in a styrofoam container.\u00a0 It is all very humble, but as I said, the food is fresh and tastes good for the money.<\/p>\n<p>I had the <strong>Chicken Special ($8.99,) <\/strong>which consisted of cubes of chicken, mixed in with vegetables, and a tomato sauce.\u00a0 My lunch came with a large portion of the special, on top of rice, sided with fresh chopped vegetables, and rolled up pita bread.\u00a0 The chicken was tender and the vegetables and sauce all tasted very fresh.\u00a0 The tomato sauce had enough salt and hints of spice but was not quite as spicy as I would have liked.\u00a0\u00a0The vegetable salad was good, and fresh, and had\u00a0nice hints of vinegar and spice.<\/p>\n<p>I really wanted a spiced lamb kabob but a sign said they were not carrying lamb since the market prices were too high.\u00a0 I am not sure why that would deter someone from carrying their \u201csignature\u201d item, but such is life.\u00a0 I opted for the <strong>Ground Lamb Kabob instead ($6.99 kabob only.)<\/strong> It was rather uneventful and not something\u00a0I would order again.\u00a0 It was not bad, just not great.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Sultan\u2019s Kitchen was decent and worth the money.\u00a0 I do not think it deserves the 24 rating from Zagat they received previously, but they offer\u00a0a good, cheap, lunch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/4\/54446\/restaurant\/Financial-District\/Sultans-Kitchen-Boston\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none;
