{"id":1641,"date":"2011-12-27T10:07:38","date_gmt":"2011-12-27T16:07:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/?p=1641"},"modified":"2012-01-29T22:49:51","modified_gmt":"2012-01-30T04:49:51","slug":"columbia-restaurant-in-florida-since-1905","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/reviews\/columbia-restaurant-in-florida-since-1905\/","title":{"rendered":"Columbia Restaurant &#8211; In Florida since 1905"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com<\/h4>\n<div id=\"attachment_1642\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/columbia_cuban_salad.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1642\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1642\" title=\"columbia_cuban_salad\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/columbia_cuban_salad-300x184.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/columbia_cuban_salad-300x184.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/columbia_cuban_salad.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1642\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">1905 Salad & Cuban Sandwich<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.columbiarestaurant.com\/\">Columbia Restaurant<\/a> was founded in 1905 in Celebration, Florida by Casimiro Hernandez\u00a0Sr.\u00a0and has been serving Cuban-style food ever since.<\/p>\n<p>The interior is very interesting with a mix of Colonial architecture and modern style.\u00a0 I really enjoyed looking around the room at the various pictures on the walls and decorations.<\/p>\n<p>I went the other day for a business lunch and heard how the <strong>1905 salad<\/strong> was the item to order.\u00a0 I also heard how the <strong>Cuban sandwich<\/strong> is a great item.\u00a0 Not content to settle on just one item, I ordered the combination of half a Cuban sandwich and half of the 1905 salad.<\/p>\n<p>Before lunch arrived they served warm homemade bread with butter which was crusty yet soft in the center.\u00a0 It was not recently baked but tasted great, especially with the table butter provided.\u00a0 Lunch showed up a while later and looked amazing.<\/p>\n<p>The salad reminded me of the one served at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefadedrose.com\/\">The Faded Rose<\/a> in Little Rock, Arkansas\u00a0as it was pre-tossed with a zesty dressing akin to a olive-oil-vinegar combination.\u00a0 The salad had lots of toppings with it and is something I could see ordering again.\u00a0 I really liked the crunch of the lettuce with the oil and acidity of the dressing.<\/p>\n<p>The sandwich was quite tasty with ham and cheese which was melted perfectly.\u00a0 The ham was flavorful and not too salty and the bread was crunchy yet soft enough for a sandwich.\u00a0 Overall I really enjoyed the sandwich and recommend it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/26\/300936\/restaurant\/Orlando\/Columbia-Restaurant-Celebration\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; width: 200px; height: 146px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/b\/link\/300936\/biglink.gif\" alt=\"Columbia Restaurant on Urbanspoon\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com The Columbia Restaurant was founded in 1905 in Celebration, Florida by Casimiro Hernandez\u00a0Sr.\u00a0and has been serving Cuban-style food ever since.
