{"id":1776,"date":"2012-02-05T13:27:50","date_gmt":"2012-02-05T19:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/?p=1776"},"modified":"2012-02-05T13:28:06","modified_gmt":"2012-02-05T19:28:06","slug":"super-bowl-breakfast-homemade-pancakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/general\/super-bowl-breakfast-homemade-pancakes\/","title":{"rendered":"Super Bowl Breakfast &#8211; Homemade pancakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com<\/h4>\n<div id=\"attachment_1779\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/pancakes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1779\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1779\" title=\"pancakes\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/pancakes-300x182.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/pancakes-300x182.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/pancakes.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1779\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Homemade Pancakes<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I grew up making pancakes from a very early age.\u00a0 My father used to take me camping, on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petitjeanstatepark.com\/\">Petit Jean Mountain<\/a> and we would make pancakes on an old\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coleman.com\/coleman\/ColemanCom\/subcategory.asp?CategoryID=2020\">Coleman<\/a> Gas Stove.<\/p>\n<p>I can still remember my dad having to pump the gas chamber with a steel rod seemingly forever, to build enough pressure to last for the cooking sessions.\u00a0 We would make the packages out of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bettycrocker.com\/products\/bisquick\/default\">Bisquick<\/a> which only required us to add eggs and milk.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward thirty plus years and I still make pancakes using Bisquick.\u00a0 The other day I asked myself, \u201cwhy do I continue to use this pre-mix?\u00a0 What is so special about it?\u201d\u00a0 So, I decided to make pancakes from scratch.<\/p>\n<p>I searched the Internet and found the recipe below which I modified slightly.\u00a0 In the end, the pancakes turned out much lighter than anything I have made from Bisquick, regular or low-fat.\u00a0 I made these several times now and do not plan on going back to a pre-mix.\u00a0 I do not have a negative attitude towards Bisquick, but it will not be used in my pancakes any longer!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 1\/1 cup all purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>3 1\/2 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/4 cup whole milk<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons melted butter<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prep<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mix the ingredients in large bowl until smooth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Heat your griddle to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/p>\n<p>Add one small slice of butter on each section of the griddle you plan to cook a pancake on.<\/p>\n<p>Use a small glass to fill with batter.\u00a0 Slowly pour enough batter onto the griddle to form a disc 4\u2033 across.\u00a0 Repeat this step for each area on the griddle.<\/p>\n<p>Wait until bubbles form in the middle of each pancake and flip, once.<\/p>\n<p>Wait 20-30 seconds and remove each pancake from the griddle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plating<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Melt 1 stick of butter and set aside for people to pour over their pancakes.\u00a0 Form a stack of pancakes (2+), top with melted butter and syrup.\u00a0 Enjoy!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com I grew up making pancakes from a very early age.\u00a0 My father used to take me camping, on Petit Jean Mountain and we would make pancakes on an old\u00a0Coleman Gas Stove.
