{"id":776,"date":"2010-11-02T16:02:06","date_gmt":"2010-11-02T21:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/?p=776"},"modified":"2010-12-14T14:29:09","modified_gmt":"2010-12-14T20:29:09","slug":"dizzys-gypsy-bistro-restaurant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/general\/dizzys-gypsy-bistro-restaurant\/","title":{"rendered":"Dizzy&#8217;s Gypsy Bistro Restaurant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_785\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/dizzy_turkey.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-785\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-785\" title=\"dizzy_turkey\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/dizzy_turkey-300x194.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/dizzy_turkey-300x194.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/dizzy_turkey.jpg 737w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-785\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dizzy&#39;s Gypsy Bistro<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I met my wife for lunch today at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dizzysgrill.com\/home.html\">Dizzy\u2019s Gypsy Bistro<\/a> which is right down the street from my office.\u00a0 Dizzy\u2019s replaced the Vermillion Water Grille a while back for those that haven\u2019t eaten Downtown in a while.\u00a0 The replacement resulted in a complete overhaul as Dizzy\u2019s is a casual and funky place whereas Vermillion had a formal and up-scale feel to it.\u00a0 Dizzy\u2019s is full of art-work and when you walk in you are welcome to seat yourself in the dining area, outside, or at the bar.\u00a0 It was too cold for us to eat outside so we found a nice table in the dining room.<\/p>\n<p>Our server showed up right away and took our iced tea orders while we perused the menus.\u00a0 Their menu is staggering in length with several pages containing everything from salads, to pasta, to sandwiches, to burgers, and more.\u00a0 Everything has a American bistro vibe to it with an emphasis on simple food with complex tastes.\u00a0 Take for example the grilled turkey sandwich I ordered.\u00a0 It is a standard turkey sandwich but comes with a pesto-mayo and basil leaves.\u00a0 That is a far cry from plain mayonnaise and is a welcome change in my opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Once we placed our orders our food arrived in about 5 minutes.\u00a0 We did order sandwiches after all so the short time was not a big surprise.\u00a0 It was welcome to get our food so quickly though.\u00a0 As I mentioned earlier I ordered the <strong>Grilled Turkey ($8.99)<\/strong> which\u00a0is a sandwich served with slices of turkey, a pesto-mayo, tomato, and basil leaves on grilled wheat bread.\u00a0 It came with a side salad (that I ordered instead of fries.)\u00a0 My wife ordered the <strong>Roast Beef Pita ($7.99)<\/strong> which is a half slice of pita (very large) filled with sliced roast beef, basil, and a horseradish sauce.)\u00a0 It came with a salad as part of the lunch special.<\/p>\n<p>My turkey sandwich was big enough for a lunch and the pesto-mayo with basic leaves added a great flavor to it.\u00a0 I eat turkey sandwiches quite often for lunch since they are low in calories and fat and Dizzy\u2019s makes one of the best ones I\u2019ve had.\u00a0 The side salad was nothing to write home about but did the job of a side salad.<\/p>\n<p>My wife\u2019s sandwich was huge to say the least.\u00a0 They should have cut it in half but the cut\u00a0didn\u2019t affect the flavor.\u00a0 It was filled with roast beef and a horse-radish sauce with basil leaves.\u00a0 The only strange thing about the sandwich was the roast beef.\u00a0 It looked like a stack of very thin roast beef had been cubed and put in the sandwich.\u00a0 There was nothing wrong with it by the way, it was just cut differently than I\u2019m used to seeing sliced roast beef cut.<\/p>\n<p>Both sandwiches were plenty big for lunch and we left the place quite satisfied.\u00a0 There are other things I would like to try on the menu and I might return on a weekend when I can indulge in something higher in calories.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t leave the place with a super craving to go back, but it did leave me with a positive impression.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Dizzy\u2019s Grill and Bistro<br \/>\n<\/strong>Little Rock, AR<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Open Tuesday-Thursday: 11:00AM \u2013 8:00PM.<br \/>\nFriday & Saturday: 11:00AM \u2013 9:00PM.<br \/>\n(Closed Sundays & Mondays.)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/200\/1495029\/restaurant\/Dizzys-Gypsy-Bistro-Little-Rock\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 200px;
