Restaurant in Little Rock"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>By Todd Barron @ FoodieCuisine.com<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-880\" title=\"homers_logo\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_logo-300x183.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_logo-300x183.png 300w, http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_logo.png 376w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Homer\u2019s has been in Little Rock for a while now and is a place my family visits often for lunch.\u00a0 They don\u2019t serve the type of food I eat normally (\u201csimple\u201d home southern cooking style that is high in calories,) but I tagged along with some family and friends the other day for lunch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t been there, it is a small place located near the Little Rock Airport and has a very packed lunch crowd during the week.\u00a0 It\u2019s very casual and serves typical plate lunch fare like hamburgers,\u00a0hot-dogs, chicken, fried fish, etc.\u00a0 Most dishes come with your choice of vegetables (corn, peas, etc.) and a choice of rolls or cornbread.<\/p>\n<p>On the day I went it was much like I had experienced in the past with a large crowd of people and a simple menu to pick from.\u00a0 Given it was a Tuesday, I had looked for something relatively low-calorie and settled on the special of the day which was <strong>Baked Chicken ($6.99).<\/strong>\u00a0 For my two vegetables I ordered corn and purple hull peas and for my choice of bread, ordered the dinner roll.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_881\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_food.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-881\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-881\" title=\"Baked Chicken, Peas, Corn\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_food-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_food-300x179.jpg 300w, http:\/\/foodiecuisine.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/homers_food.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-881\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Baked Chicken, Peas, Corn<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The waitress was very nice and attentive even with the large crowd and our food came out quickly.\u00a0 The Baked Chicken was described as being marinated in a low-fat sauce and appeared to be slightly breaded.\u00a0 The breading offsets the low-calorie marinade calories\u00a0but it wasn\u2019t heavily applied.\u00a0 The chicken was a breast, on the bone, with a liberal amount of seasoning applied.\u00a0 I tried to cut into the chicken with my fork but it was too tough to do so without a knife.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t really judge the flavor of the chicken given how tough it was and only ate a few bites.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, the purple hull peas tasted great and so did the corn.\u00a0 The peas were cooked very well and the corn had a hint of sweetness.\u00a0 I had a small bite of the large dinner roll, that appeared homemade, and it was fluffy with a sweet flavor to it.\u00a0 I easily could have eaten the whole roll but I watch my calorie intake during the week and had to pass.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been to Homers before and the food was better then so I\u2019m not going to base future visits on this one experience.\u00a0 The main problem for me is that I don\u2019t eat high-calorie food during the week and most choices on their menu don\u2019t fit my requirements.\u00a0 If you want a cheese-burger, fried-fish, or other southern \u201chome cooking,\u201d you should\u00a0give them a try.\u00a0 They are very popular with their lunch crowd and you can\u2019t go wrong with many of their items.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(501) 374-1400<br \/>\nLittle Rock<br \/>\n2001 E Roosevelt Rd<br \/>\nLittle Rock, AR 72206<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/200\/1034674\/restaurant\/Homers-Little-Rock\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 200px;
