Recently on a business trip we happened across the Firenze Osteria Italian restaurant in Northern Hollywood and had one of the better Italian meals I have ever experienced! In this picture is the Grilled Pancetta And Burrata Crostino appetizer which had very creamy Burrata, pan seared pancetta, and a wonderful balsamic vinegar around the edges to add bite to the dish.
Blue Ribbon Sushi in Las Vegas, Nevada
I had the best sushi ever at Blue Ribbon Sushi in the Cosmopolitan at Las Vegas, Nevada. I really enjoyed the uni and everything was very fresh. I cannot wait to go back!
Crab Cake at Ruby Tuesday
Ruby Tuesday does not have many items on their menu which I consider healthy, but their crab cake meets the requirements and is very tasty. It is crispy, full of crab meat, and has a good amount of salt, pepper, and other spices. I just wish there was more of it!
Classic Roast Turkey
I made a “classic” roast turkey for Thanksgiving by brining it for 48 hours and then roasting it in the oven for a few hours. I basted it with pan juices and a mixture of butter, soy, and mirin. Simple yet very tasty and I received many compliments on it.
Grilled Salmon at Big Whiskeys in Little Rock
Big Whiskeys is a small chain, with a location in Little Rock, and they offer typical bar-food with a few “higher” end items such as steaks and salmon. I opted for the BBQ salmon on my visit and was surprised at the quality (ie, it was good.) It was prepared well and and the BBQ glaze was sweet and had enough spice to it. The broccoli was mushy but I enjoyed the toast it came with.
Salmon Sandwich at Holstein’s in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
There is always good food to be had in Las Vegas and I really enjoyed the Captain Hook Salmon Sandwich for lunch the other day at Holstein’s in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. It had a generous portion of salmon, with crispy slaw, all atop a nice sauce and topped with house-made gravlax.
White Tuna at Igibon Japanese in Little Rock
White Tuna Sushi from Igibon I used to visit Igibon every week until they sold to different owners but enjoyed my visit last week after the haitus. I really enjoy the sear on the edges and the siracha sauce on top adds a nice amount of heat.
Short Rib Entree at Jiko in Disney World
One of my favorite places to go in Disney World is Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have a short-rib entree on the menu and change the recipe frequently. It is always very tender and tastes great. Give it a try!
